Many of us from birth are sucked into a society that
fosters the pill popping, take medicine when you are sick kind of life. Our
failing health care system lends a hand by saying “take this for your so &
so but don’t forget to take this to combat the side effect from what you just
took”. Too often our doctor would say this medicine will fix your headaches, but
are these little white pills really the answer?
Have you ever tried to cover up something so you didn’t
have to find out the true cause of a problem? We have all done it. Whether it is
telling our family member or friend that we can’t make it to a function because
“we have to work” when we truly just don’t want to hear them complain about how
awful their life is. We cover up what truly is the problem for a temporary fix
so he/she will leave us alone. We do this with our bodies every day when we
choose a pain relieving pill instead of finding the cause.
It is no secret that yes we feel better when taking a
pain reliever. Let us look at the science behind why we feel better. First we
will go to a source that monopolizes on the many people that have pain, Advil.
According to Advil, analgesics (fancy word for pain relievers) work by “…
decreases the perception of pain by reducing the flow of pain signals from the brain.”
Now, don’t get me wrong these pain relievers are absolutely necessary in
certain scenarios. It however has become the solution in majority of scenarios
for many individuals.
Most of us don’t realize what we don’t know, can hurt
us. Let’s say you have a terrible headache so you decide I’m going to take an
Advil just to get through the day. Then the next time you have a slight headache
you think oh nooo I don’t want to have a bad headache like I did last time so
you take another little pill. Before you know it you have got into the habit of
taking that little pill at the slightest indication of a “bad headache”.
Guess what everyone? We don’t have to fall into the trap
of the constant covering up of your symptoms any longer. There are solutions
ready and waiting for you to take the leap. So, before I lecture you with the go
get adjusted so you don’t get a headache, lets state some facts. Not all
headaches are the same. Thus please do not assume that the cause of your
headache will automatically be cured by an adjustment. What a chiropractor does
is find the source of your pain then they take it from there. Below you will
find a couple articles on beating your pain with chiropractic care. But before
you go head first into reading I want each of you to say this“I have a body and
mind that knows what it needs and can heal itself when the right things are
introduced.” You feel better already don’t you?
