Unless you have been living under a rock you have probably heard by now of cbd oil. So what is it? What does it do? Is it legal? What does it help with? These are the many questions you may have about CBD oil.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD oil (Cannabidiol) is a compound that is made by extracting the properties from cannabis plants (hemp or marijuana) then adding a carrier oil. This compound does not cause the normal "high" that people think of when they think of marijuana. This high comes from what's called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). A carrier oil allows the substance to be absorbed through the skin for a topical CBD cream.
CBD Oil Benefits
CBD oil has been known to reduce inflammation, pain, reduce epileptic seizures, help with anxiety and depression, and even improve sleep.
Is CBD Oil Legal?
CBD oil products that contain less than 0.3% of THC are legal federally, however some states have not legalized the sale of these products just yet.
Can You Overdose on CBD Oil?
Yes, just like you can have water toxicity by drinking too much water. You can also overdose on CBD Oil, however it is very difficult to do this. A person would have to ingest nearly 20,000mg of CBD oil in a short time.
Is CBD Oil Addictive?
CBD Oil products are THC free or those with very little THC are NOT addictive. THC is the addictive substance in marijuana plants.

Before deciding on the best remedy for your little one you must first know if your child indeed has eczema. Your pediatrician can usually easily diagnose this. Many times he/she will recommend a cream that could help. If you would like to get the to the source of their eczema I first suggest addressing their diet or your diet if you are breastfeeding. For some babies a mom's diet that includes eggs, dairy, wheat or gluten, soy, some nuts, and even citrus fruits can trigger a breastfeeding babies' eczema. See how your baby reacts when you eat those specific foods, are they gassy, irritable after you chow down on dairy. If so the proteins in dairy may be upsetting their digestive tract which in turn can cause eczema.
Next inspect the ingredients in the products you use for your child. The diapers, lotions, powders, and anything that gets into contact with their skin.
If a sensitivity to a food or topical product that you are using is not the issue. Try these Remedies.
During the warmer months make sure you are not overdressing your little one the heat can trigger their eczema. While on the other hand during the colder months make sure you are using a good moisturizer so they do not get too dry which can also trigger the itchiness of eczema.

Probiotics should be staple in any vitamin/mineral regiment. Baby probiotics are normally found in powder form. It can be added to liquid or food. Since babies beneficial bacteria is different from adults, there are specific probiotics that babies should use.

Accidents happen, the frustration is after an accident what should you do. After an accident you should always call 911. The police along with an ambulance will come to access any immediate injuries and write a police report. I always suggest to my patients if you are not going to go to the ER with the ambulance have someone pick you up to take you to the ER or urgent care. There they can take X-rays and examine you for any broken bones, internal bleeding, etc. Many times they will give you pain relievers and or muscle relaxers. The unfortunate part is this does not fix your injury. Pain relievers turn off the receptors that tells your brain you have pain so in turn it just masks the pain. Just like you wouldn't expect a computer virus to go away by simply turning off your computer the same things holds true for your body.
Many times people think they are fine on the day of the accident so they decide not to seek care. It can take your body 72 hours to 1 week to feel the effects of an auto accident. So do not wait seek care right away.
Waiting to seek care could possibly lead to further injury and a longer recovery time. Even permanent damage to your spine and body. Thus, seek care right away.
That is where I come in. At Journey Family Chiropractic you are never charged anything up front. We want you to focus on recovering from your injuries. We utilize chiropractic care, massage, and physiotherapy to get you back to your pre-accident status or better.
What if the accident is my fault, will the insurance company pay for my care?
If you have medical payments (med pay) on your auto insurance plan this can pay for your care. Medical payments range from 1,000-5,000 in most plans.
My car didn't have much damage, should I still get checked out?
Our cars are built to withstand accidents, but we are not. Just because your vehicle doesn't look too damaged, that doesn't mean your body is fine as well. An unchecked subluxation after an accident can cause long term consequences that can easily be prevented.
What are some common complaints after an accident?
Accidents are going to happen. After an accident it is best to seek care as soon as possible. Going without treatment can have detrimental effects on your health and lifestyle.
Turmeric is not only great as a seasoning, it has many amazing benefits. Turmeric is part of the ginger family. Circumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. To get enough dosage to be effective Turmeric should be taken as a supplement 500-2000mg. So what are the benefits of circumin?
Turmeric can be purchased in tablet form. But be sure to get it from a good source. For my patients I recommend Standard Process. It is a whole food supplement company. Their absorption is more than many over the counter Turmeric sources.

We've all had it that annoying persistent cough that has decided your body will be its permanent residence. It attacks you at meetings, it attacks you when you're sleeping, it even attacks you mid conversation. Here are my 3 Proven home remedies to help you beat that cough that refuses to go away.
**Please note garlic is very potent. You may smell like garlic for a while. But its your call get rid of the cough and smell like you were trying to keep vampires away or keep coughing and have everyone stare at you all day long asking you are you okay.
A spoonful of raw local honey with a squeeze of lemon works great especially during the spring and fall seasons. I however find that since this is attributed to those with spring/fall allergies it does not work as well in the other months. The reason raw, local honey is best compared to your grocery store honey is each area has specific allergens. Thus the local honey is tailored to those specific plants/flowers/and trees.
This tea is is one of my favorites for coughs and colds. Your body will thank you for this one. Take fresh (1/2 cup) garlic cloves, peeled, cut ginger (1 cup) , and cut a whole lemon in half, put it in your tea pot. I have a tea pot with an infuser already attached. It makes a huge difference with the strength of your tea. Boil and let tea seep in the goodness of the garlic, ginger, and lemon for at least 5 minutes. This gives it an opportunity to cool a little as well. Then add honey to taste.
Losing weight is definitely no easy task but it can be done with the right guidance. What I have found in my practice one of the major reasons why many patients fail at accomplishing their goal is they have a hard time turning down sugar. This is why there are so many people every year who flock to the gym after the holidays because they over indulged in sugar during the holiday season.
Sugar not only increases weight it also continues a terrible cycle of weight gain.
With the increase in cravings (usually for sugar) the cycle never stops. Thus the first step to starting a successful weight loss journey is you must detox your body of the foods that are keeping you from being the you, you love. This doesn't mean you will never have your mom's apple pie. It just takes this sugar craving from ruling your life. Check out the book below. It breaks down how you can successfully detox from sugar. Once this detox is complete, your body can absorb the necessary nutrients it needs. Act Now!
Car washed, vacuumed, wax done, oil change, alignment these are all things we do to take care of our beloved cars. So why do we make all the excuses in the book for something we are indefinitely stuck with, our bodies. Our bodies are with us through everything yet we many times feed it junk, refuse to give it exercise and keep it out of alignment. While when our body breaks down we attribute this breakdown to I guess I'm getting old. I am not saying as you age your body stays the same however I am saying you don't have to suffer in pain when there are solutions.
Those individuals that take the time to take care of their body has been proven to have a better quality of life. They are not hunched over at 80 or dying in pain. Why deal with pain when you don't have to. Chiropractic care can help with a huge range of problems. Some problems include: fibromyalgia, sinus issues, TMJ pain, pain during pregnancy, neck pain, back pain, plantar fascitis, extremity pain. Chiropractic care also helps your organ systems function better because it affects your nervous system. Since your nervous system is the control center when you are able to keep this system healthy the rest of your systems (such as digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular) can then function better as well.
Our goal at Journey Family Chiropractic is to get you to a healthier you. Your soon to be healthy body will thank you.
Several years ago the newest craze was juicing. I was so surprised at the traction juicing fruits and vegetables was getting. So what is juicing. Juicing is the process in which you take fruits and vegetables and transform them into juice. If you are trying to give the gut a break then this may work for you, if it is just a day to a few days. Juicing although can be beneficial in short spurts, it is not suggested for long term nutrition. You should also combine fruits and vegetables with your juicing because juicing only fruit can spike your blood sugar. The disadvantage of juicing is it removes many of the nutrients plus the insoluble fiber that the fruits and vegetables provide. These nutrients and fiber helps our body stay regular.
So what about good ole blending. Blending is perfect for those who want to keep all the nutrients. It breaks down the fruits and vegetables without removing the essential nutrients and fiber in it. With the fiber intact blending allows you to stay full longer and keeps your digestive system regular.
At our home everyone drinks a smoothie daily. The trick to having a healthy green smoothie is add more vegetables than fruit. My favorite smoothie recipe is:
2 cups of Spinach
1 cup of Kale
1 whole carrot
1/2 cup Silken tofu
1 whole avocado
1 3/4 cup of water
Blend, and ENJOY!!
Ps. Wondering what kind of blender to use. This blender has not let me down.

Homemade cough syrup:
1.) Onion/honey syrup: Cut up onion in rings; then layer honey, with layer of onion, until onion layers are finished. Basically you are making a honey onion lasagna. Cover container and leave for 8-12 hours. This remedy is perfect to do at night. Take cough syrup every 2-3 hours or as needed to tame cough.
2.) Local Honey: Take a spoonful of local honey with lemon every 2-3 hours.
1.) Ginger, honey, lemon tea.
2.) 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 spoonful of honey, and lemon in a cup of warm water. Drink daily at the first sign of a cold.
Other methods to fight a cold:
To keep everyone in your home healthy add frankincense oil, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil to a spray bottle to purify the home at the first signs of a family member's cold symptoms. Melaleuca which is also known as tea tree oil can be used alone to cleanse home and surfaces.
